Promoting Self-love with Multicultural Dolls
BROCKTON, MASSACHUSETTS (February 2021) – Fusion Dolls has popped up at Westgate Mall in Brockton (ShopatWestgateMall.com). A Black, woman owned business, Fusion Dolls creates dolls and accessories that are multicultural. The doll maker celebrates diversity, providing girls with dolls that look like them. Fusion Dolls is located by Old Navy.
Fusion Dolls is owned by Widline Pyrame, who came to the United States from Haiti as a teenager. From an early age, she noticed that toys and media imagery predominately showcased fair complexion women. Becoming a social worker, Widline recognized the importance of children having dolls that look like them to learn about self-love and acceptance.
“Fusion Dolls' mission is to spread diversity, awareness, and encourage our children to love themselves inside and out,” says Widline Pyrame, founder of Fusion Dolls. Most recently Fusion Dolls created an outfit inspired by Vice President Kamala Harris for Motivated Maliaka, whose name means “angel” in Swahili. Motivated Malaika’s mission is to help little girls stand up for what they believe in and work hard to make their dreams a reality.
